Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. (1 Peter 2:11-12)

God has purposely placed His people in an environment surrounded by wicked men and He will be glorified in doing this seemingly strange thing. Remember what Jesus prayed? He asked that His disciples NOT be taken out of the world but that they would be KEPT from evil. So, pilgrims and strangers, let your light shine before men so that in seeing your good works they will glorify your Father who is in heaven.
