Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last l lay down,
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it someday for a crown.
I cannot think of these lyrics without remembering what happened on that cross. God’s mercy and forgiveness became available to all who loved His Son, His Christ who gave it all so willingly. Christ suffered so we wouldn’t have to. Christ died so we could live. And Christ rose from the dead so we could spend eternity with Him.
Cling to the cross, it’s our life line to everlasting peace, joy, and eternal gifts that only Christ can offer. He is our Saving Grace.
“Therefore, he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.”
To a believer, the cross is many things, but above all, it’s that God exhalted Christ to the highest place in heaven & earth, and intercedes on our behalf. Thank you, Lord Jesus.
