And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still.” (Revelation 22:10-11)
The Time is at Hand. The time of the end is fast approaching – knocking at the door. There seems to be a sense of urgency that is largely lost in our culture. We must wage war against any apathy, slothfulness or tendency to coast. Now is not the time of rest. It is a time of fighting, warfare, violently pursuing things above and casting off lesser things. Any attachment to the earth is becoming more and more dangerous to foster. Any attachment to heavenly things is increasingly vital – for the days are evil.
It is the Day of Salvation. Now is the time to awake from the sleep and arise. Now is the time to repent. Now is the time to make the most of every opportunity. Now is the time of putting on the Lord Jesus Christ and making no provision for the flesh. Now is the day when salvation is available and when repentance is granted.
Another Day. There is coming a day when there will be no opportunity for change; when every status will be fixed. The unjust will remain unjust and no one will be made righteous. The filthy will remain filthy and no washing will be available. The righteous will remain righteous and not be defiled. The holy will remain holy and will not be turned aside to the left or to the right. The day of the Lord will come like a thief and though men will call for mountains to fall on them, they will not be granted repentance. Though, in that day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord – this will not be a confession unto righteousness. Men will confess the truth but their time of forgiveness will have come and gone. Furthermore, those who have lived faithfully will no longer have to contend in a condition of jeopardy. They will be saved!
NOTE: All of humanity is classified in these terms: Unjust, Filthy, Righteous, Holy – which are you?
